Following a successful run a the Soho Theatre in London, the musical is relocating to the Edinburgh Fringe. The show will be appearing at Assembly's new George Square venue from 3-28 August 2011. Featuring the much-loved characters Emily, the mice, Gabriel the toad, Madeleine the rag doll and Professor Yaffle.
There will be no new Bagpuss programmes made but there could be a spin off called "Mouse Tales"
Coolabi plc has acquired the licensing and merchandising rights to Bagpuss and the Clangers, the TV rights are expected to be reviewed soon.
In a poll organised by CBeebies Animals magazine, Bagpuss beat Danger Mouse, Winne the Pooh and Shaun the Sheep to be " favourite children's TV animal of all-time", this is the second award for Bagpuss which was voted "most popular children's TV programme of all-time" in a 1998 BBC poll.
